Heute wie gestern schon versprochen die Statements der beiden Juroren Thomas Doss und Jan Van der Roost.

Die Beiträge gebe ich hier original wieder. Jan Van der Roost hat seine Erlebnisse in Englisch geschrieben. Da ich denke, dass die meisten Blasmusikblog-Leser Englisch lesen und verstehen können, habe ich auf eine Übersetzung verzichtet.

Ich habe nicht erwartet, dass das Niveau so hoch ist. Sicher waren ein paar Ausreißer nach unten dabei. Aber besonders in der 2.Division war ich überrascht.
Auch die 3. Division verspricht einiges….Da kommt einiges nach und die Zukunft verspricht da für Deutschland schon einiges.
In der 1. Division waren 2-3 Bands mit internationalem Niveau.
Platz 1 und 2 waren verdammt knapp!!
 
Die Stimmung war super und der Besuch ebenso.

“On Mai 6 and 7, the “Deutsche Brass Band Meisterschaften” took place in the wonderful “Max Littman  Concert Hall” in the lovely little city of Bad Kissingen: it was the 6th edition and the 2nd in a row at that same location. Having judged the “German Brass Band Championships” 3 times already, I have a rather broad and concrete impression of the developments of the “brass (band) movement” in Germany and I must say it very times amazes me how fast and how steady it all increases and improves. In general, the overall standard was pretty good (and sometimes even outstanding!), which not only illustrates the major efforts that have been done over the last decades, but it also is very promising for the future! As I said in my short “speech” on Saturday Mai 7th, I have always believed in the idea that Germany once would become an important brass band nation. Indeed: there are so many good, even excellent brass players in Germany and the brass tradition in general is remarkable and strong. It was inevitable – so to say – that one day these two “powers” would find each other and would fertilize and inspire each other. Knowing the “Deutsche Gründlichkeit”, my confidence in the combination of talent, tradition, organization and enthusiasm once would bear fruits – which now really is the case already. If the musical standard continues to raise as it is at present, I also am confident that one day the “professional (brass) world” will follow and even take the lead … Like in most countries, this may take a while, but I think it is a logical consequence of the fact that the general musical standard will continue to approach the professional level … It simply is a tremendous “training” for an amateur brass player or student to play in a (good) brass band!

In short: it once again was a great event as a whole: compliments to all organizers, to all musicians, to … everybody who has contributed in order to make that particular weekend become a “feast for the ear and the heart”!
